PS3 Firmware 3.01 Live

The 3.01 firmware is now live for the PS3, it isn’t a mandatory update however, so you have to manually check for updates to download it.

It appears that no aesthetic changes have happened, and no new features added. We assume then, that this update focuses on the  bugs created by firmware 3.00, such as some freezes and lock-ups with media such as Uncharted.

We will update the article when more information on firmware 3.01 is unveiled.

UPDATE; Official word from Eric Lempel, Director of PlayStation Network Operations

This is an optional update that improves system stability during use of some PlayStation 3 format software.
