Guitar Hero World Tour Review

Guitar Hero World Tour

Released on the 14/11/2008 Guitar Hero World Tour started a new experience for fans of the series all over the globe.

For £149.99 for the full game pack (play.com) which includes the game software, a guitar, the drum kit and a microphone but is it really worth the price?

Guitar Hero World Tour has the biggest track list in the series so far with no fewer than 85 songs ranging from the 60’s up until 2008 and there are many more to download from the console store if you are willing to part with you money or game points.

The Guitar

Red Octane have produced their best guitar so far for Guitar Hero World Tour it has a longer strum bar and whammy bar and a touch pad at the lower end of the neck which enables you to slide or tap without strumming ( a skill I have yet to master so it’s not a easy as it sounds) but still the guitar is the best piece of kit included.

The Drums

This is the first time drums have been added to Guitar Hero and to be honest I’m slightly disappointed with them. It is incredibly hard to hit the notes on time with the drum sticks and you can hear yourself hitting the pads more than you can hear the drumming coming from your TV

Difficulty

Anybody can play Guitar Hero World Tour no matter if you are a big fan of the series and a hardcore Guitar Hero player or if you have never played the game before, you can start on beginner level which allows you to hit any colour note on the guitar or drum set which means all you have to do is be on time to succeed. The expert difficulty level will give any player no matter how experienced a run for there money making the game a lot more fun.

Other

The notes chart has been greatly improved since Legends of Rock. The Graphics are a bit cartoony but they look cool and the create your own rock star is a great addition to the game because it helps you feel like you are in the game especially when your playing in Times Square it made me feel on top of the world.

However its not all good the studio mode is hard to master and to get the sounds you want from your guitar and the drum kit is good but takes some getting used to. The End Credits song is also very long and daunting to play.

Verdict

So to answer my own question from the start is it really worth the money? Well yes it was probably the game of the year for me it has a great song list with pop song to metal rock which is great for any ages and music taste I would recommend this game to anybody even if they just purchased the guitar bundle for £69.99 (play.com).

I’d have to give this game a 9/10, it is an absolutely fabulous game and the most fun I’ve ever had whether on your own or with friends and family everyone can join in.

Thanks for reading please comment giving your thoughts either on the game or the review.
